Funding research and innovation
The Netherlands is dependent on knowledge and innovation for its future prosperity. Investments in knowledge development and innovation are therefore also investments in that future prosperity. Companies, researchers and students search the globe to find the best locations for research, knowledge-sharing and innovation. It is therefore important that the Netherlands is among the top countries in the world in these areas. These high but necessary ambitions can only be realised through major investments in knowledge and innovation.
AWTI regularly expresses views on the funding of knowledge and innovation, calling not only for generous investments, but also arguing that those investments should be driven by a vision and a long-term strategy. The Council also looks at the interrelationship between different funds flows. It also advises on the relationship between generic and specific policy and between the knowledge base and specific impulses.
